Cheers for 2012!

BY Nancy Janiola IN 18 comments

I do think New Year's resolutions can't technically be expected to begin on New Year's Day, don't you?  Since, because it's an extension of New Year's Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system.  Also dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover.  I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second.  ~Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones's Diary

and i guess new years resolution loses its essence which is really to make one but now seems like to be a tradition. like in christmas, we open our gifts well for new year, we make resolutions...

Happy New Year! Happy 2012!

with regards to making resolutions, I agree with Ms. Tatess! for me I started the change way before 2012 came. It's like preparing myself for the New Year and whatever surprises it offers. :)

Lifestyle change can start anytime. One need not wait for a new year to start changing the way he lives his life. It's best that he does it when no one is watching.

Fun post. Haven't seen the movie though. But I believe we can change whenever we want even without resolutions.

Keep smiling and be merry. Happy Happy New Year to you.

New year's resolutions are just a matter of do-it-lists, lists of priorities or lists of things undone from the previous years. That's why it is so termed as "resolution" - meaning to be accomplished as to its proximity or urgency. For it's better to have a "list of priorities" rather than wait for chances or opportunity to come.

Short but precise. I actually don't believe in new year's resolution. I believe change can happen anytime of the year. Happy New Year!
