I always feel special whenever my ex-boyfriend calls me “gorgeous”, ”beautiful” or “sexy” back then. Many times I wake up on a wrong side of bed but when I turn my computer on to see him, his “hello princess” line never fail to set my mood back to where it should be.
Good thing he never called me “babe”. I personally find it awkward.
And did you know that a lot of women hate it too? A British study commissioned by the Internet services company Siteopia.com had this revelation. Read more about it here.
The traditional terms of endearments like “beautiful”, “lovely”, “love”, “darling” and “honey” they say is still preferred by most women for pet names while topping the “don’t call us that!” list are “sweet cheeks”, “snookums”, “baby doll”, “baby girl” and “muffin.”
That “snookums” sounds new to me. I honestly don’t know what it means. The term “baby doll” however, isn’t really that bad to the ear. I remember ex started calling me that when he first shopped a few pairs of baby doll lingerie for me although he barely used that term to address me as he was more fond using those three adjectives mentioned above most of the time.
More hated pet names:
Baby
Pumpkin
Puppy
Honeybun
sugar pie
Pudding
Sexy pants
More okay pet names:
Angel
Dearest
Precious
Treasure
Buttercup
Princess
Sweetness
Which ones do you prefer?

I can't help but smile at some of the endearments listed :-) With me and hubby, we've been calling each other "honey" ever since. Then when kids arrived I call him "daddy" and sometimes he calls me "mommy" but most of the time "honey." We're used to our pet names that calling each other on our names sounds very awkward :-)
I think there is nothing wrong with that, it's actually sweet. My husband and I call each other as "hun" or "honnie", sometimes "babe".
my husband and I called each other baby! i love it than any other. i think this survey is not doing any justice here! hehehee
now i know what to avoid calling my wife with... lol
thanks for sharing.. :))
hhahaha...snookums...what the heck! sounds funny to me....I like sweetness though!
I would prefer a traditional pet names. Snookums? Oh my....never heard of it before, lol. I hate to be called, Doll, babe and other hot stuff.
I preferred "honey" and that's what my husband calls me.
I always like to hear when somebody call their boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife BABE...I think for me is just the sweetestttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt words though my husband calls me SWEETIE/SWEETHEART
My hubs calls me gorgeous, baby and sometimes dearest with accent when we both irritated haha, then when we have kids we called each other daddy and mama. Still using baby once in awhile! :)
for me, Baby is the sweetest thing. I guess it depends on who is calling you that, and the way they say it. here in US, most people use baby as their endearment. and my hubby calls me baby.. hey baby....sweet pea.. hunny... but mostly baby. and i call him baby too. i think its the cutest endearment. He would say.. I Love you Baby..., i dont like sweetheart, dearest, dear, darling... its kinda old fashion to me, or too formal. i dont like Babe either cause it sounds like a pig. haha. Baby is very cute. =)
