5 Pounds and Counting

BY Nancy Janiola IN , 1 comment

April is when I started running back and this time with a new addition to my weight loss regimen – keeping track of my calorie-intake. Sounds ambitious but I find it really challenging. I aim to meet my goal in 4-6 months, I’m supposed to lose at least a pound or so a week. I’m on my 5th week and I indeed five pounds lighter now. Way more to go.

I got really challenged when my now sister-in-law, Melodie asked me to be in the entourage as one of the matrons of honor on their wedding. I was reluctant at first. I didn’t like the pressure of looking for our own dress to wear at the wedding when I still have an existing problem to address too. But after I found an appliance service man to fix my AC weeks before the wedding, I thought I would reconsider. I eventually enjoyed the dress hunting, the fitting and most especially becoming a part of the entourage of yesterday’s wedding.

I tried, and failed at the whole pre-wedding beauty routine thing... The Plans: Hair colored and highlighted, french tips, pedicure & facial What actually happened: I did get my tips about 3 weeks prior. I wanted to try out a design I had been debating on, in case I did not like it and wanted time to change. I liked it, and had plans to get a fill and touch-up just before the wedding. More on that later. I colored my hair about 10 days out, and the Thurs before my Sat wedding, my FSIL was going to do highlights. She did a beautiful job on her sister's hair & I had faith in her. SHE FRIED MY HAIR AND MADE ME 3/4 BLONDE! My base was DARK brown, so the blonde was a really ugly orange. The day before my wedding I had to pay to get it fixed and ended up with no highlights. Pedis with the girls happened before the hair disaster, but because of the hair, I ran out of time and $ for the fill and the facial. In the end, no one really knew the difference but me.
