Having a diamond collection does not always mean that you have a quality collection. You may have heard of the 4 Cs that determine the quality of the diamond. Here they are in plain language.
C is for carat weight. The heavier it is, the more value it may bring, but not always. One carat equals a fifth of a gram (200 mg). The diamond carat size alters the weight accordingly. Not all big raw pieces mean they are more costly since the color and clarity are also taken into consideration (the other 2 Cs).
The 4th C is the cut and it is what determines the brilliance of a diamond. A diamond cut that is too deep can look big or one that is cut too shallow can be too small. They affect the quality. One that is just right is what you should want and what gives your collection a good name. The bounce of light differs as the cut differs. Quality diamonds are not everywhere.
You cannot see the quality just by looking. With an untrained eye you can never tell. Once you buy one that fits your purpose, keep in mind to take with you the certification that comes with it so that you can be sure that no one will hunt you just to claim their diamonds. Make sure you genuinely own what you got and no one even by mistake can take it away from you.
Whether you are buying for collection, investment or business, knowing the drill is a must. That’s a basic common sense. You can’t just waste your money on something that you don’t really need. Be informed. Get as many details as you can. Maybe what you are trying to get are just made of carbon but it's the hardest and most expensive and sought-after carbon. Better be sure than sorry.
